Albert "Dude" R. Weinmann, 93, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Parkview Hospital. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the only son of the Late Albert and Matilda Weinmann. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a mortician before he enlisted in the military and served his country in the Army as a medic during WWII. He was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. He worked with the City of Fort Wayne as a firefighter and later in his career as an educator/trainer.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Barbara (Mark) Rodebeck, Sharon (Wayne) Light, Roger (Dianne) Grothaus, Mark (Sue) Grothaus, Susan (Marc) Grostefon and Kim (Steve) Englert; and a good family friends, Lillian and Wendell Sheffer.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred L. Weinmann, in 2005.
Service is 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials are to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.
