Rossman, Alma Mae (Durst) Alma Rossman, 90, a life-long Fort Wayne resident transitioned from this earthly life on September 6, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Marion, IN. Surviving are sons, Philip Rossman II, Indianapolis, IN, Glenn (Lynne) Rossman of Poway, CA, daughter-in-law, Helen Rossman, Fort Wayne, IN, brother, Wayne (Thyra) Durst, Auburn, IN, two grandchildren, Melanie Jacobson and Philip Rossman III and five great-grandchildren: Tonia Madison, Derrick Madison, Dora Madison, Abigail Jacobson and Philip Rossman IV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mae Durst, a sister, Mary and a brother, Walter. She was the fifth woman from Fort Wayne to enlist in the military during WWII. She rose to the rank of First Lieutenant and completed her service in Europe at the end of the war. She was employed at Lincoln National Life Insurance Company for twenty-six years and retired in 1979. Following her retirement she continued to volunteer for many organizations and received the "15 Who Care" award in the 1990''s for her volunteer service to Lutheran Hospital and the Allen County Emergency Preparedness Team. She was an inspiration to many and will be remembered by family and friends for her love of family, kindness, and caring for others. Memorial Calling will be at 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with a committal service with military honors at 2:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. In lieu of flowers preferred memorials are to Wounded Warrior Project or Worship for Shut-Ins.
