Alvin Wayne
Hutchins

Alvin Wayne Hutchins, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at home. Born February 15, 1930 in Quincy, Michigan, to the late Earl and Daisie (Titus) Hutchins at the family farm. He was married to his loving wife, Marilyn Paxton Hutchins on Valentine's Day in 1953. There were three children, Joni (Donald) Sanders of West Lafayette, Robert Hutchins of Fort Wayne and the late, Patti who passed on April 25, 2018; two grandchildren, Natalie (Jacob) Fox of Valparaiso and John (Shelby) Sanders of West Lafayette; three grandchildren, Sydney, Nicholas and Saylor Fox all of Valparaiso and Ainsley Sanders is expected in March.
In his growing up years he helped on the family farm, attended a one-room school house and graduated from Quincy High School.
He served in the Air Force for two years and was employed by Rea Magnet Wire for thirty-two and a half years. Alvin was a long time volunteer driving for the Red Cross and a faithful blood donor, honored for giving 100 pheresis units. In earlier years he enjoyed bowling, was active in Southwest Conservation Club and served our God at the Poe and Hope United Methodist Churches. He had happy memories of golfing trips, hunting in Vermont, local fishing and charter trips for walleye with his brother-in-law, David Borton, and friend, Stokely Colwell. He also spent ten years in a hot air balloon club. Wednesday afternoons were reserved for euchre games with another group of friends. In May of last year, Alvin was happy to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with his son, Bob, as his guardian. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, O.E. Hutchins, Roscoe Hutchins, Doris Hutchins, Melba McCarthy and Ruby Baldyga; brothers-in-law, David Borton and Donald Koomler.
He is also survived by one brother, Loyal Hutchins of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews.
