Anna Patricia Jones, 91, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 15, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on March 3, 1934, in Uniontown, Alabama, to Herbert Sanders and Louise Custard-McCreary. She was married to the late Walter L. Jones and together they had five beautiful children.

Anna was a woman of quiet strength and boundless warmth. As a mother of five, she carried both love and responsibility with grace. Hospitality came naturally to her—whether you were family, friend, or stranger, she made you feel at home. Many who were not related by blood still called her "Granny," a reflection of how fully she embraced and cared for others.

She lovingly babysat countless children over the years and looked after anyone under her roof as if they were her own. She had a way of remembering everyone, always checking in on those she hadn't heard from just to make sure they were okay. Some of her fondest moments were spent in the kitchen, cooking and sharing stories with her grandchildren by her side.

Anna enjoyed serving the Lord, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, shopping, dancing, and all kinds of music.

She is survived by her five children: Trena, Valeria (Alvin), Walter L. Jones II, Lori (Bryan), and Ken F. Jones (Charade); as well as Ricky Brown and Mick Williams, who were like sons to her. She is also survived by two brothers, Everett (Ruby) McCreary and Donald (Ruby) McCreary and sister-in-law Kate McCreary; five grandchildren: Franchesca (TiAhna), Alexandra (James), Kennedy (Tulio), McKenzie (Alizé), Tiana (Bryan) and bonus grandchildren whom brought her joy; 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and six great-grand pups and kittens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter L. Jones; two sisters, Tina and Emajean; and brother, James.

Anna was a wonderful mother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1331 Gay Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46803. Entombment will follow immediately at Covington Memorial Gardens.
