Armenda "Ruth" Merriman, 83, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, January 31, 2011, Lutheran Hospital. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. She retired from Magnavox after 30 years of service. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late, Louis and Sylvia Smith, after her father passed away, her mother then remarried Paul Graft, they then raised the children together.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mark; sons, Nils of Ossian and Kent of Yoder; daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Polka of Fort Wayne; brothers, Russell and Donald of Fort Wayne and Calvin of Ossian; 7 grandchildren, Delaney, Connor, Stacy, Cody, Kayla, Glen, Rachael, and Jamie; and 5 great grandchildren, Harmony, Serenity, Erik, Lacy and Haley.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry; and one brother, Louis Smith
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2011 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior to service. Rev. Scott Carmer officiating. Calling is also 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorial are to the American Heart Association.
