Audrey Jean (Dale) Meyers (94), born to John Russel Dale & Helen Lizette Goette Dale on July 8, 1929, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2024.

To carry on her legacy of light & love are her children, Dale (Sue) Meyers, Holly (Thomas) Bauman, Dawn (Thomas) Buuck, and Randal Meyers; grandchildren, Nikki (Jim) Meyers (Breading), Emily (Chris) Eineman, Adam (Mackenzie Clark) Meyers, Kari (Jim) Spelbring, Michelle (Brad) Borchelt, Heather (Chad) Pieper, Nicholas (Sonia) Bassett, Jessica (Matt) Winebrenner, and Megan (Pete) Hilty; great grandchildren, Charlotte, Lily , Carter, Zachary, Alexander, Josephine (Xavier Velazquez), Colten, Austin, Eli, Abby (Thomas), Jacob, Anthony, Alex, Austin, Michael, Nicholas, Addison, Jackson, Stella, and Gavin; great-great granddaughters Nova & Luna; nephews Martin (Wendy) Meyers, Dave (Holly) Meyers; and Great-Nephews Colin (Emily), and Mason. Audrey was born and raised in Fort Wayne and lived there throughout her life. With her roots in Fort Wayne, she spent a great deal of time creating deep memories in Clear Lake, basking in the beauty of the world in her travels, and for the last 15 years of her life, with her daughter Dawn and Son-In-Law Tom as their "roomy". She attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School. On May 14, 1949, she was married to Wayne Meyers and began the lifelong challenge of keeping his hands out of the cookie jar. They were two of the founding members of St. Michael Lutheran Church in 1953 and she was the last remaining member of that group. They helped build the congregation from the ground up, much like they did when taking on the challenge of building their family home. In a way that turned out to be a metaphoric theme to their lives, they purchased a home kit and built the house on Cadillac Drive. Together they utilized the tools they were blessed with and created a home that was the epitome of warmth, safety, love, and laughter. She went by many names and carried many titles. Audrey, Mom, Grandma, Audie – Daughter, Friend, Wife, Mother, Official Spoiler / Partner in Crime. There is no real way to simplify and sum up the ferocity in which she lived her 94 years on earth. The greatest testament to who she was is the fact that she will never truly reside in a past tense. The example she set and the guidance she gave will live on through those she loved (and she loved BIG). She is in the lack of hesitation to go on every adventure we can and travel as much as we can. She is a happy tear shed during a really good movie. (The fewer curse words the better). She is in the joy of a well-made Highball drink after a long week. She is in the sass we express when we find ourselves being just a tad stubborn. She is in the harmonies we find in any song we hear. She is in the appreciation we feel whenever we hear the beautiful music from an accordion or an organ. She is in the peace we feel on the water at the lake. She is in the refreshing sweetness of a glass of iced tea only made sweeter by one of those little pink packets of the "good stuff" (hoarded in our bags just in case). She is in the urge to participate fully in each opportunity we are presented with. She is in the support we give in any way we can. She is in the truth we share, even when it is hard. She is in each generous act of selflessness around us. She is in the grace and strength we find when faced with dark days. She is in the stability we hold from the faith we have in the magnificent certainty of God's word. She is in the love we feel and give every single day. She is the comfort of knowing she is always there for us because she always has been. Our family invites you to celebrate her life and share in the love she left us. Services will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church. 2131 Getz Road, Fort Wayne Indiana. Viewing will be from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, April 10th. Funeral Service will be at 11am on Thursday, April 11th. In lieu of flowers, we ask that your generosity be shared instead with the St. Michael Lutheran Music Department.
