Barbara Helen Downing, 97, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Story Point West in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Lafayette, IN, Barbara was a daughter of the late Gerald and Mildred Evelyn (Hendryx) Habben. She married J. Frank Downing on June 09, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 2006. A woman of deep faith and love for the church, Barbara served in various roles as a faithful and active member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed cooking and crafts. Surviving are her children, Anita (David) Reinbold, Lynette Downing and Maribeth (Larry) Smith; brother, Richard Habben; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Habben; and sister, LaVaughn Homrig. There will be no services at this time. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
