Bernice (Pat) L. Harrison 90, died Sunday at her home. Born in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia to the late Harry and Ruby Brown. She was a long time volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital, honored for over 50,000 volunteer hours by Mayor Paul Helmke, declaring September 25, 1992 "Pat Harrison Day" in Ft. Wayne for her service to St. Joseph. Pat also received the Americanism award from the Allen County Council of Veteran Organizations for striving to uphold patriotic ideals, the Blessed Mary Katherine Kasper Health Care Award from Ancilla Domini Health Services for her capacity to care, the Peggy Hobbs Service Award from the YWCA , the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service from American Institute for Public Service and she was nominated in 1992 for the President''s Annual Point of Light Award. Surviving are sons, Dean Harrison, Chicago, IL, Richard Harrison, Columbus, OH, Robert Scott, Brisbane, Australia, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Harrison, one daughter, one sister, one brother. Memorial services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 17th. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with calling 2 hours prior to service. Chaplin Robin LaRue Officiating.
