Bill R. Shanks, 81, of Ft. Wayne passed away April 18, 2022.  He was born July 9, 1940 in Ft. Wayne to the late Melvin and Lillian (Gustin) Shanks.

Bill retired from International Harvester after 30 years of employment.  He married his love, Patricia (Busche) Shanks in 1963 and together they raised 5 children.  In his spare time, Bill was an avid reader & loved both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He also enjoyed fishing and was especially interested in NASCAR racing, car shows, watching sports and Tin Caps baseball.  He was a hard working man who loved his family dearly.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Tina Cummings, Todd Shanks, Tamara Shanks, and Timothy Shanks; grandchildren, Audrey, Cade, Madison, Olivia, and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Cash and Jacelyn; a niece and nephew.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Arden Shanks; and daughter, Tracey Headrick.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 24 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be Monday, April 25 at 11:00am, also at Covington Memorial.
