Birdie Staton, 82, of Fort Wayne, went to her heavenly home Friday May 2, 2008 at her daughter''s home in Atlanta, GA, surrounded by her daughter and loving husband after a short bout of lung cancer. She was a beloved friend, a committed Christian worker and devoted wife and mother. Born in Anniston, AL, she was the eldest child of the late Rev. Douglas Goggins Sr. and Willice Griffin. She married W. Doyle Staton Sr. in 1950. She was co founder of Victory Fellowship Church. She blessed many with her generosity, wise counsel and healing hands. She will be sorely missed. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Pastor W. Doyle Staton Sr. of Fort Wayne; daughter, Karen Webb of Fort Wayne; son, Pastor Warren Staton Jr. of Fort Wayne; daughter, Cynthia Staton of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Tacoma Newsome of Columbus, OH, Jarobi Newsome of Germantown, MD, Chinaus Webb of Montgomery, AL; four sisters, three brothers and a host of family and friends. Home going service Friday 7 p.m. at Victory Fellowship Church 3601 Warsaw St. with a wake one hour prior to service. Prayer service and procession Sat. 11 a.m. at Victory Fellowship Church.
