Bobette Marie (Griffiths) Shaw, 83, a child of God, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Born in Fort Wayne on February 3, 1928, she was a lifelong resident. Upon her graduation from Southside High School in 1946, she attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and remained an avid Boilermaker fan. She also made time for the Colts, The Cubs and the Bears. She enjoyed swimming, singing and bowling in her younger years. Recently she enjoyed Zumba in the pool at the YMCA. As a member of the Southmoor Singers for 44 years she often entertained as "Minnie Pearl''s Cousin." Her sense of humor was pervasive. She was active in the church her whole life and attended Aboite Missionary Church for the last 20 years.
She is survived by her sister, Jaymee (Frank) Colvin of Mena, Arkansas; daughters, Linda Shaw and Becky Shaw both of Fort Wayne; son, Allen (Deb) Shaw of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Adam Shaw, Jennifer Zimmerman, Brandon Shaw, Amber Shaw, Allison, Shaw, Karl McOmber; great grandchildren, Lyrric Barnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bill Shaw, in 1992; and a grandson, Jonathan McOmber.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Aboite Missionary Church, 7222 W. Jefferson Blvd., with calling one hour prior. She was laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to the Church.
