Carl R. Parkison, 79, passed Saturday, September 7, 2019.  Born in Fort Wayne he was a son to the late, Garnall D. Parkison and Orma Cleota (Amstutz) Parkison.  He proudly served his country in the Navy for 10 years and in the Air Force Reserve for 2 years.  He spent 29 ½ years as a truck driver for USF Holland Motors and had worked for Speedway for 14 years.  Carl also belonged to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Dept, the VFW, 40&8, the American Legion Post 82, and he was a Shriner.  Carl was an avid golfer and cubs fan.

Carl is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; children, Michael (Barbara) Parkison, Mikki (Greg) Smith, Gerri Reddin and Brian Parkison; 11 grandchildren, Heather (Ryan Ohlwine) Smith, Tyler Waugh, Alexandra Smith, Ashley Parkison, Hayley (Marquelyn) Langhorne, Evan Parkison, Daniel P. Rodriquez, Shelby (Logan) Hoover, Taylor (Antone) Vasquez, Grace Parkison and Tessa Parkison; 5 great grandchildren, Zayden, Serenity, Jase, Ethan and Rylee; and brother, Gene Parkison.

Carl was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Scheumann.

Funeral Service is 1 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior.  Officiating will be Pastor Ron VerLee.  Calling is also 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.  Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post 82-Building Fund.
