She retired from Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church and VFW Post #857 and American Legion Post #85. She is survived by sons, Charles J. Close II, Ft. Wayne, IN and Christopher S. Close, Denver, CO, daughter, Cathleen A. Wheeler, Ft. Wayne, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother, Paul Hiers, Geneva, OH, little sister, Leah Hiers, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Garvey J. McKearney, brothers, David, Dean Hiers, and granddaughter Ashley. Services are at 5 p.m. Friday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with calling from 1-6.
