Charlene K. Houser, 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on March 3, 2024, at Lutheran Life Villages. She was the eldest daughter of the late Roger L. and Marie A. (Springer) Smith. After graduating from Elmhurst High School in 1960, she traveled to Denver, Colorado, where she resided for a short time before returning to Fort Wayne, Indiana. She went to work at Frank's Department Store, working in the office for several years. She later went to work for K-Mart in their Human Resources Department until her retirement in 2007.

Charlene is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Ed) Lujin; brother, Ronald L. (Diana) Smith; sister, Linda M. (Daniel) Stewart; step-sons, Frank  A. (Angie) Houser and William Houser; nieces Jennifer M. (Robert) Kirkland and Erin M. (Matt) Henson; great-nephews, Andrew Rian, Abraham Henson and Leo Henson, and great-nieces, Elisabeth Rian and Helena Henson.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Frank E. Houser; and nephew, Kristopher Thomas Stewart.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, officiated by Mike Wakeland, at 1pm with calling two hours prior at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8404 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the donor's choice in Charlene's name.
