Charles W. Balbaugh, 77, died, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Hospice Home, with his family by his side. The Fort Wayne native was the only child of the late, Henry and Eileen (Healy) Balbaugh. Charles proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War, aboard the USS Leyte, in 1956; and then was transferred to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where he served until, April of 1958. He was a proud member of the American legion Post #160 in Roanoke.
He is survived by his children, Chuck (Kim) Balbaugh and Scott Balbaugh both of Roanoke, Carol McCray of South Carolina and Dawn "Dinky" Winters of Fort Wayne; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 52 years, Elizabeth "Jane" Balbaugh, in 2011.
Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Noon, Saturday, February 28, 2015, at American Legion Post #160, 1122 N. Main St., Roanoke, with calling one hour prior. Roanoke Legion Post #160 will be providing military honors and a lunch following for family and friends.
