Charles Vincent
Cochren
August 19, 1936 – October 17, 2019
Charles V. Cochren, 83, died on Thursday October 17, 2019 at his home in Hamilton Place. Born in Fort Wayne, Charles was the son of the late Lawrence and Florence Cochren.
Charles faithfully served his country in both the Korean War and Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army, as well as a devoted member of the American Legion Post #499, where he served as Chaplain for 20 years. In addition, Charles was a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church.
Charles retired from G.E. and then went to work for Fort Wayne National Bank; after which he worked at Walmart at Appleglen as a greeter. Charles enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler in his free time.
Charles is survived by sons, Randolph of New York, John of Florida, Francis of Fort Wayne , Phillip (Denise K.) of Crawfordsville and Anthony (JoAnn) of Georgia; daughter, Peggy (Robert) Koehl of Fort Wayne; sixteen grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; brother, Rowland Cochren of Fort Wayne.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret in 2010, as well as his siblings, Melvin, Arthur, Leonard, Raymond Cochren, Lois Overmyer, Viola Francies and Pauline Hatfield.
Memorial Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2019 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials should be directed to the family.
