Charles Paul Shoppell, 84, died Saturday, September 23, 2017 Parkview Hospital. Born November 25, 1932 in Fort Wayne, a son to the late Harry F. Shoppell and Zola M. (Lyons) Shoppell. Charles served his country in the USMC and was a member at the Eagles, DAV and American Legion. He was a heavy equipment operator with Leininger Excavation.

Charles is survived by his children, Deborah (Sam) Wolf of Mesa, Arizona, Paul (Amy) Shoppell of VanWert, Ohio and Chris (Sandy) Shoppell of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Marcy, Michael, Dustin, Alex, Nicolas and Lilly; and sisters, Pauline Bunyan of Columbia City and Lavon Wasson of Monroeville.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Shoppell, on December 21, 2014; and sisters, Delores Murphy and Peggy Starich.

Funeral service is 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior to service. Pastor Christina Ryan-Perkins to officiate services. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Wounded Warriors.
