Daniel Aren Meeks, 64, of Ft. Wayne passed away March 3 with his wife, Kathy, by his side.  He was born May 29, 1957 in Ft. Wayne to the late George and Ruth (Stemmler) Meeks.

Dan graduated high school and eventually went into the police academy and was on the Ft. Wayne Police Department for 34 years before he retired as a Lieutenant in the Ft. Wayne Investigative division.  He married his wife, Kathy, on July 2, 1977 and together they raised 2 children.  Dan enjoyed spending time in his woodshop being creative, teaching Bible study and Sunday school, and was involved with Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana (DSANI).  Dan loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.

Dan will be forever remembered by his wife, Kathy; children, Jordan Meeks and Kristan Meeks; siblings, Dennis Meeks, David (Becky) Meeks, and Pam Meeks; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in passing by his sister-in-law, Diane Meeks.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 12 at 1:00pm at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 W US-24, Fort Wayne, IN 46814, with reception to follow.
