Obituary

David Allen Brittenham, 84, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Chapman Place in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN to the late John and Catherine (Kowder) Brittenham. David was a graduate of South Side High School. He married his loving wife, Angel Darlene Clevenger on October 10, 1986 and she preceded him in death on March 15, 2020. David served honorably in the United States Air Force and was deployed to France during the Berlin Wall Crisis in 1961 and then discharged in 1962. David worked at the YMCA as the CEO Director for over 32 years. While with the YMCA, he developed many programs such as the Coalition for Youth Services, SOCAP (Status Offender Court Alternative Program), and the Anit-Graffiti Program. He was an active member of Broadway Christian Church and previously Faith UMC in Fort Wayne, IN. He faithfully helped with the "In As Much" Program through Broadway Christian Church. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Fort Wayne Flying Circuits. David and Angel participated with their dogs in search and rescue and therapy throughout the Fort Wayne Community. David enjoyed building model airplanes and rockets. He loved to spend time on the boat at the lake. Surviving are his children, Dawn Fair (Todd Chiddister), Gwen Taylor (Zach Lara) and Holly Clevenger; siblings, Joyce (Jim) Bischoff and Steve (Kathy) Brittenham; grandchildren, Zachary (Lauren) Foster, Kyle (Kayla) Foster, Courtney (Mike) Ashley, Amber Tomkinson, Emilee Taylor (Tyler Fisher), Rebecca Thompson (Gavin Aker); eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11:00am, Friday, January 6, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Covington Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation also, Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the:
