David Lee Grone, 68, a devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandpa, and friend passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, in his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on December 17, 1955, in Fort Wayne Dave was the son of Elmer Grone and Carol Bullock. He graduated from Northside High School in Fort Wayne. He dedicated nearly 40 years delivering paper products to support local businesses throughout Northeastern Indiana.

Dave was a man who cherished tradition and family. He had a curious mind and a passion for history, often seen with a newspaper or a book in hand. Dave loved staying informed, but he also appreciated a good laugh, especially while watching The Red Green Show. In his younger days he played bass guitar in a jazz band. His signature style was a leather jacket and cowboy boots. Cooking for his family was one of his greatest joys. He had a tender heart for rescuing cats, and he also adored his dog, Suzy who was always by his side. Whether he was traveling to Chicago to see his best friend, Jim Doust, or simply watching birds from his window, he found joy in the little things. Above all, Dave loved being at home with his family and pets. His home was his sanctuary, a place where love, laughter and tradition came together.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Nancy; his mother, Carol Bullock; his brothers Dan (Wanda) Grone and Dale (Darlene) Grone; his children, Andy (Renee) Grone and Julie (Chris) Harris; and his five grandchildren, Charlie, Violet, Chris Jr., Justin, and Gracie. He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Grone.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday December 10th from 11am-1pm and memorial service beginning at 1 pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.

Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family will remain in our hearts forever.
