David L. Rhoades, 78 passed away Tuesday July 10, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 6, 1933 to the late Samuel D. and Lola B. (Ritter) Rhoades. David served in the Navy from 1952 until 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He served on the carriers USS Midway, USS Intrepid and the USS Philippine Sea. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for his 3 years service.
David was employed at Dana Corporation in Churubusco and the Indiana Dept. of Highways Sign Dept from which he retired in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, all animals and feeding the birds. He was a member of the American Legion Post #499. He was an active member of the American Health & Fitness Center.
He married Norma Jean Hornett from Auburn, IN on July 3, 1964. She survives along with a daughter Lisa Marie (Terry Miliczky) Rhoades and a brother Steven Rhoades, Monument, CO. He was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur and Donald Rhoades.
Visitation will be 2-4 6-8 p.m. Saturday July 14, 2012 with military honors at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
