David H. Short, 70 of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Parkview Hospital. The U.S.A.F. veteran was currently working for Umbers Do It Best. He was retired from Dana in 2003. He also had worked for International Harvester and Wayne Home Equipment. He was an avid Komet Hockey Fan. A loving husband, father, and grandfather we love and miss you dearly. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sally J. of Fort Wayne; son, Todd (Pam) Short of San Tan Valley, Arizona; daughter, Lisa (Tony) Lucio of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Sarah (Bryant) Summers of Leesburg, Virginia; two brothers, Bob and Bill Short; sister, Betty Miller; eight grandchildren plus twins on the way; and one great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Smith in 2009; a step son, Tim Bermes and three sisters. Service is 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 4 - 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. (Comfortable casual attire requested per Davids wishes) He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens with military honors. Memorials are to Heart Association or Donor''s Choice.
