David John Steinbacher, 61, passed Sunday, August 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a short fight against Leukemia.  He worked 40 years for Alro Steel/Art Iron. David was a sports fan and loved his Chicago teams, Blackhawks, Cubs and Bears. He was also a fan and supporter of the Homestead High School Marching Band, where he made many friends.

David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anita Jo (Hille) Steinbacher of Fort Wayne; children, John Steinbacher, Megan Steinbacher, Allison (Adam Keesler) Richmond all of Fort Wayne and Janell (Rick) Grimes of Tipton; 10 grandchildren, Emma, Adam, Sienna, Elijah, Myka, Jenna, Michael, Alayna, Alivia and Hudson; uncle, Jack Culbertson of Warsaw; cousins including, Sandy Miller of Warsaw; sister and brother-in-laws, Colleen and Mike Niederholtmeyer, Nadine and Art Putt and Marcia Hille; nieces, nephews and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Harold George and Jayne Avis (Culbertson) Steinbacher; and aunt, Mary Culbertson.

Funeral Service is 11 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior.  Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2018 at the funeral home.  Officiating will be John Motz.  He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Homestead Marching Band.
