Dean Alan Ormiston, 67, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Born in Crawfordsville, to the late, Allen and Verona Ormiston. Dean graduated from Concordia High School and then went off to serve his country in the Air Force. He retired from Midwest Tool & Die. Dean enjoyed going to the South Side Farmers Market every Saturday, cooking (especially for others). Dean was an avid sports fan; he loved the Green Bay Packers, I.U. Basketball and he has only ever been a White Sox Fan. Dean wouldn''t waste an opportunity to cut up about the Cubs, considering he married into a Cubs family. In his quiet time he enjoyed working on puzzles, crosswords and reading.
He is survived by daughter, Dawn (John Bopp) Ormiston of New Haven; grandchildren, Allexsa Potts, Kristina and Deitrich Ormiston; step grandsons, Cevin and Kenneth Bopp; sister, Peggy (Richard) VanHorn of Fort Wayne; niece, Cinnamon (Patrick) Donley; and nephew, Christopher VanHorn.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Louise Ormiston, on January 19, 2014.
Funeral Services for 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling three hours prior. Preferred memorials are to Fort Wayne Humane Shelter or SPCA.
