Deloris E. Walker, 85 went to be with Jesus at 6:10 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2026. She was born on March 2, 1941, in Fort Wayne to Charles and Anna (Koch) Beckman.

Deloris was a strong willed, sometimes stubborn, resilient woman, raising eight children on her own. She loved Jesus and attended Good News Baptist Church in Churubusco. She had great sense of humor, always finding joy in life. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, puzzles and playing cards, especially Canasta. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by eight children, John Jewell, Floyd Jewell, Scott Jewell, Daniel Jewell, Brian Jewell, Noah Jewell, Ida Gatchell and Christina Jewell; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernie Walker; infant son Kevin Jewell; grandsons, John Jewell, Tyler Ondersma and Anthony Jewell.

A funeral service celebrating Deloris’ life will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens.
