Dennis G. Flennery, age 79 of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away early, the morning of Friday February 2, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born as Dennis G. Agar on November 7, 1944, in Ann Arbor, MI, he was the son of the late Florine (Dunn) Flennery and adopted by the late Alfred Flennery in 1951. After his family moved from Michigan, Dennis grew up in Fort Wayne. He attended Elmhurst High School and graduated with the Class of 1962. Dennis joined the US Marine Corps and served from September 1963 to October 1966, during the Vietnam War. In 1968, Dennis married Marcia Dawkins. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting and operations management technology from Indiana University in 1971. Dennis worked as an accountant at General Electric for 33 years, until his retirement in 2002. He was a volunteer fireman and EMT for many years, playing Santa for the kids during the charity events. Dennis played cards, loved the water - skiing, tubing, boating - and enjoyed testing diners and dives in his travels. He was a frequent blood and platelet donor to the Red Cross. His music favorites were Fats Domino, The Beach Boys and The Four Seasons. Dennis grew to be passionate about helping and teaching others in his later years. He always had a positive attitude and brought smiles to all. Survivors include his children, Audrey (Flennery) Oswalt of Plymouth, MI and Katherine Flennery of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Evan and Amelia Oswalt; siblings, Nancy and Patricia Flennery of Fort Wayne and x-wife, Marcia Flennery of Fort Wayne.
