Derward D. Franke, 91, of Fort Wayne passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Townhouse Retirement Community.  Derward was born December 14, 1929 in Fort Wayne a son of the late Lester and Ella (Ramm) Franke.  He retired from C and A Engineering after ten years of service. Previously he worked for General Electric 24 years and Magnavox eight years.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church.  Previously he held elective offices from president to elder at Zion Lutheran Church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.   Derward was also a member of the General Electric Apprentice Alumni Association and the Allen County Genealogy Society.  Surviving is his wife, Janet (Feil) Franke; niece, Kathleen (William) Graney; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Springer.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorna in 2017.  Funeral service is 11:00 AM Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Emmaus Lutheran Church 8626 Covington Rd. with Pastor Roy Olsen officiating.  Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.  Memorial donations may be made to Emmaus Lutheran Church 8626 Covington Rd.
