Obituary

Diane R. Velpel, 50, of Fort Wayne, died Monday March 16, 2009 at home. "She will be known for her humbleness as a great Christian wife, mother, daughter and was a very peaceful and kind spirit which many people will talk of in years to come". She was born August 13, 1958 in Indianapolis and was a graduate of Mooresville High School. She worked at IU School of Dentistry in the Periodontal department where she met her husband of 23 years, Geoff. They then moved to Montana to work in the Indian Health Service where her daughter Kelsi, age 22 was born and then moved to Alaska where her daughter Erin, age 16 was born. She moved back to Fort Wayne in 1993 and was active at the Covenant Methodist Church at Coldwater. She was also active in the dental spouses Alliance of the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society and recently received the Thelma Neff distinguished service award for this Alliance of the American Dental Association. She is also survived by her father, Louis Weber of Mooresville, IN; brothers, David Weber of Chrisney, IN and Duane Weber of Mooresville; She was preceded in death by her Mother Lavon who was also another special spirit. Funeral service Friday 11 a.m. with calling one hour prior at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. Calling also 12-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery. Diane desired to have a memorial supported which will help surviving cancer patients with special needs. It is the Pat Dyer Memorial Fund and helps those less fortunate get to their cancer appointments.
