Dolores M. Pelmear, 78, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Maria (Romanov/Werpney) Luscalzo. During the 1940s and 50s she was an Opera Singer on an ABC radio show. She was an active member along with her husband at The Cross Church on Winchester Road. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a 12 year breast cancer survivor.
She is survived by her son, Doug Pelmear of Napoleon, Ohio; daughters, Deb Pelmear of Fort Wayne and Sheila Kay of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Benjamin Luscalzo, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 54 years Donald D. Pelmear, Sr. in 2004 and a son, Donald D. Pelmear, Jr. in 1995.
Service is 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials are to the family.
