Donald E. Russell, 81, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at home. He served his country in the Army and was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. He retired from International Harvester in 1982 after 33 years of service and was a member of the UAW for over 33 years. He was a past treasurer and member of the Al Jennings Retired Men''s Club for several years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Russell; daughter, Donna Jean Kimbrough of St. Louis, Missouri; sons, David (Carolyn) Russell of Concord, California and Mark Russell of Indianapolis; brother, John Russell of Fort Wayne; sister, Madonna Banks of Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren, Noelle, Devlon, LeDon, and Sean; and 5 great grandchildren, Kyra, Zariah, M'Kane, Kailise and Talyn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robin Andrew Russell and sisters, Betty Holman and Norma Dean Hague.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2313 Hanna Street, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 4 to 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Douglas Punke officiating. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials are to the church.
