Donald Raymond Schaeffer, 91, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Friday, June 5, 2015 in Port Charlotte, Fla. Born 1923 in Fremont, he was the son of the late, Earl and Eddith Schaeffer. Don worked for Dana Corp. and was the owner of Roanoke Lanes.

Don is survived by daughter, LeeAnn (Fred) Miguel of Fort Wayne; brother, Wendell Schaeffer of Fremont; sister in law, Mary Ellen Holtman; 7 grandchildren, Fred Miguel III, Faith Ann Smith, Todd Miguel, Angela Miguel, Kyle Miguel, Jennifer Schaeffer and Jeff Schaeffer; 9 great grandchildren, Kristina Schaeffer, Shelby Schaeffer, Isabella Smith, Alexis Miguel, Ray Miguel, Freddy Miguel, Isaac Smith, Tommy Burnside and Charlie Smith; 1 great great grandson, Roman.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia E. Schaeffer; son, Gregory Scott Schaeffer; grandson, Eric Joseph Miguel, brother, Dean Schaeffer; and sister, Esther Mims.

Funeral service is 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. He will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to St. Jude''s Children's Research Hospital.
