Doris "Eileen" Zeissig, 102, passed away on February 1, 2024 surrounded by her family at home.

She was born in Berne, IN on September 27, 1921, a daughter of the late Leslie and Elma Stuckey.

Eileen graduated from nursing school in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII as a nurse. After being discharged in 1946, she went to work at Lutheran Hospital. In 1947 she married Werner Zeissig, who had also served in the military and they spent 54 years together before his passing. Together they shared five children and raised their family on a small farm near Roanoke, IN.

Eileen was a caregiver through and through. In her spare time she enjoyed singing, painting, traveling and golfing.

She is survived by her children, Tom (Marcy) Zeissig, Gary Zeissig, Sue (Dennis) Oberlie, Jon (Cindy) Zeissig; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Zeissig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Werner Zeissig; three brothers, Leslie Jr., Gaylord and Wayne Stuckey; and one son, Steve Zeissig.

She also leaves behind numerous friends to cherish her memory.

A private family service will be held.
