Dorothy Jean Deeter (86) passed away peacefully with family at her side on March 11, 2023.  She was born December 1936 to Robert and Bertha Pope in Wilmington, NC where she met the love of her life of 68 years, Keith L. Deeter.  Keith and Dorothy lived in Fort Wayne, IN from 1955 until their move to Indianapolis in 1997.   She was the mother of four daughters: Debra, Cheryl, Donna and Evelyn.  Deb, Cheryl and Donna all predeceased her. Along with her children and parents she was predeceased by six of her siblings.  She is survived by her husband, Keith L. Deeter, her daughter, Evelyn (Muhammad) Safder, along with ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister, Edna Packard.  Dorothy was a devoted stay at home mom and worked to always put her family first.  She was always involved with church projects through the Monson Chapel Methodist church and led youth groups for many years.  The last few years of her life were a testament to how cruel dementia could be for a family. Funeral service 1:00pm, Friday, March 17, 2023 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the National Dementia Society or Alzheimer's Foundation. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
