Dorothy Janette Hower, 98, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Lutheran Life Villages at Inverness in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Dixon, OH, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Walter W. and Iona G. (Gilbert) Bucher. She married Donald Hower in 1947, who preceded her in death on June 7, 2007. She worked as a head cashier at Scott's Grocery Store for over 30 years, until her retirement. Dorothy attended the Southside Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed going to Craig Lake in Michigan with her family and camping in their trailer at the Waffle Farm. Above all else, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Dorothy's eldest son, Steven Hower, passed away in 2016. She is survived by two daughters and son: Renea Perez, Kathy (Ronald) Privett, and Michael (Kathryn) Hower; daughter-in-law, Lynn Hower (Steven); 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She had three brothers; and one sister, all deceased. A private family celebration will be held on November 24th, her 99th birthday. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens.
