Dorothy Ann Hoover, 92, passed Saturday, May 20, 2017. Born here in Fort Wayne on June 19, 1924, she was a daughter to the late, Frederick and Elizabeth (Schneider) Shull. She graduated from Central Catholic. Dorothy was a self taught seamstress, she had perfected her talent and was able to be the proud owner and operator of DA Hoovers Alterations and Dress Making. She also had work in the Real-estate industry for over 40 years. She was an avid bowler, winning many trophies. Dorothy married the love of her life, the late Harold Hoover, on October 10, 1947. Realizing they were not able to have children, they immediately filed for adoption papers, they waited 21 years for their children. She always said her children were worth the wait.
She is survived by her children, Dan (Brenda) Hoover and Heidi (Mike) Smith both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Ben, Brock, Isaac, Mitchell, Zander, Zane and Jaxson.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Smith; siblings, Wanda Smock and Robert Shull.
Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the funeral home. She will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Riley Children''s Hospital - In care of Daniel Ray Smith.
