Dorothy Ann (Mertens) Springer, 87, of Fort Wayne went home to Heaven the afternoon of October 29.  She was born February 8, 1934 in Fort Wayne to the late Ernest and Amelia (Schmidt) Mertens.

Dorothy married her love, Wayne Springer, in 1956; they were devoted to each other for 62 years until his passing in 2018.  As a young woman, Dorothy worked for Lincoln National Life until her daughter, Kathy, was born and then stayed home to raise her.  Later in life, she worked at Hickory Farms.  She was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where she worked tirelessly serving others at funeral dinners and helping with the annual rummage sale.  Dorothy was an antique dealer for more than 40 years, a hobby she passed on to her daughter.  She kept a spotless home and enjoyed decorating for the holidays.  Most of all, she loved her family and was dedicated to being a wife and mom.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bill Graney.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Wayne, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Lorna (Mertens) Franke.

Family will receive friends from 4:00pm - 8:00pm Tuesday, November 2 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd, Ft. Wayne, IN 46804.  Funeral service will be 11:00am November 3, with visitation one hour prior, also at Covington Memorial; officiated by Pastor Steven Voelker.
