Dorothy J. Stacy, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 with her family at her side. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Forest and Sarah Haynes. She raised her children in the Fort Wayne area and had retired from the Summit Club after 30 years of service. She was a member of St Jude Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy was a very independent soul who loved to travel, listen to country music, an avid gardener and reader, enjoyed counting cross stitching, crocheting, and sewing.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Sheila) Stacy of Fort Wayne and Theresa "Terry" (Chuck) Distelrath of Auburn; brothers, Larry Haynes of Florida and Bill Haynes of Michigan; four grandchildren, Vanessa, Anthony, Kelli and Toby and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda M. Stacy in 2003 and two brothers, Bob and Dick Haynes.
Memorial Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials are to Cancer Service of Allen County.
