Dorothy M. Tanksley, 81, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 22, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to the late Jessie and Jewel Thompson. She retired from Ft. Wayne State Developmental Ctr. After 35 years of service as staff supervisor. Dorothy is a member of the Union Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children, Dorothy Denise Tanksley, Amos (Tavida Darnell) Tanksley III, Jerre Alan (Geraldine Williams) Tanksley, 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Annie P. Harris.

Service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday March 14, 2015 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with calling 1 hour prior to service. Pastor Anthony R. Pettus Sr. officiating. Entombment will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Parkview Hospice.
