Obituary

Douglas Alan Jackson, 68, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, was born on September 7, 1956, to the late Delmar and Adelia Jackson (Roanoke, Indiana), and passed away on March 6, 2025. Doug dedicated 20 years of his life to the service of his country, being proudly enlisted in the United States Army from 1974 until he was honorably discharged in 1994. Throughout his distinguished military career he was assigned to both the Army Security Agency and the Army Recruiting Command. During his career he earned the rank of Sergeant First Class along with numerous accolades to include; the Army Commendation Medal, Army Gold Recruiter Badge, and three Sapphire Achievement Awards. Following his release from the Army, Doug spent the remainder of his life in service of his family as a loving son, spouse, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by Wanda Jackson, the mother of his two sons, Brian (Amber) Jackson and Mike (Mollie) Jackson, his 12 grandchildren Nicholas, Maci, Hunter, Jocelyn, Ethan, Abigail, Reagan, Roman, Ariana, Diego, Ryder, and Brantley, his 3 great-grandchildren Paisley, Kingston, and Jameson, his sister Diane (Tom) Duncan, his niece Jamie Duncan, his nephew Scott (Lauren) Duncan, and his great-niece Isla Duncan. Doug never wavered in his commitment to his family or his country and served as a resolute example of commitment, service, and character for all the generations that will follow. For all who knew Doug, know that the ride will always continue no matter where the road may lead. Know that should our paths ever cross again on this ride; that there will be a nodding of the head and a twisting of the grip as we lay a trail of rubber on down the road. Shiny side up… for he is gone but not forgotten. Doug's final resting place will be Marion National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. Doug will forever be remembered for his life, his laugh, and his love. He helped to grow a family that will remain strong long after he is gone and he leaves behind an incredible amount of memories and fingerprints in the lives and hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
