Edgar James Hurley, age 78, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 in Ft. Wayne. He was born July 11, 1931 in Ft. Wayne to Ross and Lucille Blake Hurley and they preceded him, along with 2 Sisters, in death. Edgar was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Edgar worked for many years as a mechanic and parts and serviceman for American Truck Transport and at Navistar. He married Pauline M. Huett on December 24, 1954 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter Kathryn (Arthur) Lahrman, of Ft. Wayne and brother Vern Hurley, of Ft. Wayne, 3 Grandchildren, Deserae Lahrman, Art (Sandy) Lahrman and Josh (April) Lahrman, 4 Great Grandchildren, Austin Tyler Peters, Alexander Douglas Lahrman, Benjamin David Lahrman and Delaney Marie Lahrman, all of Ft. Wayne. He was an avid Square Dancer, enjoyed boating activities and he lived life to the fullest. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post # 82, and a Life Member of V. F. W. # 11438. A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday August 17 at 5pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 3:00 pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family's preferred memorials are to S.C.A.N. (Stop Child Abuse and Neglect) or to the charity of one's choice.
