Edward Eugene (Gene) Kress, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 in Fort Wayne. Born in Detroit, MI on August 9, 1924, he was a lifelong teacher serving many students as a history teacher and administrator at Thurston High School, Redford, MI. He earned his bachelor''s and master''s degrees from Wayne State University. A giving man, he served in the Army in WWII, served his churches as an usher, and on retirement volunteered at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, volunteered every Thursday morning at the St. Andrews Breakfast Program in Ann Arbor, MI, and finally cared for his wife of 64 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Barbara (Don) Perry of Fort Wayne and Emily (Tom) Goodwin of Mason, MI; four granddaughters; one great granddaughter; and his sister, Dorothy (Alva) Gay of Jackson, MI. Memorial Service is January 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 275 W. Michigan, Jackson, MI. Calling one hour prior to the service at the church.
