Edythe Marie Frankenstein, 85, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Hospital on July 5, 2009 at 5:45 am, exactly 41 years after the death of her first husband, Rev. Hartwig M. Schwehn, on July 5, 1968. She married Rev. Kenneth F. Frankenstein on April 12, 1969: he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1995. Edythe was born in Richmond, VA on Feb 9, 1924 to C. Emil and Mabel Augustine Pohlig She is survived by her son, Mark (Dorothy Bass) Schwehn of Valparaiso, IN, step-son Kenneth (Karen) Franklund of Dayton, OH, daughters Marcie Habel (Mike), Decatur, IN, Sarah McMillan (Darrell), Ft. Wayne, IN, and step-daughters Ruth Dickinson (Joel), Ada, OK, Lois Wenthe (John), Decatur, IL, and Judy Timper (Dell), Tuscon, AZ. Edythe had 21 grandchildren and a large and growing number of great grandchildren. Edythe was a dedicated church worker and an avid reader and thinker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to travel, cook and was a master life bridge player. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church and volunteered in the community at WBNI radio station and Ft. Wayne Community Center. Her cranberry sauce was one of a kind and like Edythe, will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and brother Donald A. Pohlig.
