Obituary

Eleanor (Monesmith) Hirschman, 88 of Fort Wayne, died Monday Sept 8, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital after a short illness. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie (McKeeman) Monesmith. She graduated from South Side High School where she won Girls State in Speech. She graduated Franklin College where she was a member of Tri- Delta Sorority. Years later she earned a second degree in teaching and a Master degree at St Francis College. She taught for 18 years at the Village Elementary School. She married Howard Hirschman her high school sweetheart prior to him going over seas for WWII. They raised two children and later retired to Englewood Florida for the winters. She was a life long member of Simpson United Methodist Church where she had lead the youth group. She enjoyed her family, signing, and reading literature and poetry. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and friend. She is survived by one daughter, Mickie Jones; a brother George (Joan) Monesmith; sisters-in law, Mary K Monesmith, Ilo Oliver, Dorothy (Don) Nichols, and Eleanor Ackerman along with nieces and nephews to numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Howard Hirschman, a daughter, Debbie Hirschman, and a brother Kenneth Monesmith. Memorial service Saturday September 20, 2008 at 12:30pm with calling at Noon at Simpson United Methodist Church 2501 S Harrison St. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Simpson United Methodist Church or donor''s choice.
