Elizabeth Rae (nee. Quinlan) Gearhart, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at Renaissance Village. She was born March 13, 1923, in York, Nebraska, daughter of the late Leroy and Verna Quinlan. She was raised in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Benson High School, home of the Benson Bunnies; she also attended University of Nebraska. She enjoyed singing in the choir at Lutheran Church of our Savior and recently became a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer at Lutheran Hospital for 30 years and received awards for over 4,300 hours of service. She was a member of Settlers Inc., and was very active in the Hearthstone Ensemble. She married Robert Acton Gearhart in December of 1942; he preceded her in death on September 9, 2001. Surviving is a son, James M. (Jo Anne) Gearhart of Westcliffe, Colorado; two daughters, Barbara Jean Fairfield of Fort Wayne, Mary Pat (James) Smith of New Haven; twin brothers, Douglas Quinlan of Bremerton, Washington and Dennis (Alyce) Quinlan of Sanford, Florida; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials to the A.S.P.C.A. or Homebound Meals. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree or garden in memory of Elizabeth and as an honor to our mom and her love of "All things Bright and Beautiful, All Creatures Great and Small."
