Floyd Wayne Donnell, 92, died Monday, March 6, 2023. Born in Crothersville, Indiana, he was a son of the late Harold Robert and Marie (Gruber) Donnell. Wayne served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Miami University at Oxford, OH and received his MBA from Indiana University where he met his wife, Helen Hendley. Wayne enjoyed playing tennis and gardening. Above all else he loved spending time with his family. Wayne spent the bulk of his career at Kroger as personnel manager. After leaving Kroger he was a general manager of Autojectors. He then worked at HK Porter in personnel and purchasing. Later in life he had his own business called Fort Wayne Hitch. Surviving are his children, Julie (John Shoaff) Donnell, Joe (Elizabeth) Donnell, Janet (Nels) Johnson; two grandchildren, Michael (Brianna) Donnell and Laura (Peter) Ali; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Avery Donnell and Grace Ali; and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Helen Donnell; and siblings, Harley Joe and John Guy. Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries or ELEOS Hospice Care. Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Covington Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
