Forest "Glenn" Nowels, 86, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Oakbrook Village in Huntington. He was born June 30, 1924, son of the late Dennis B. and Millie (Altimus) Nowels. He has lived in Huntington all but 22 years of his life. He was a WWII Army veteran where he served with the amphibious engineers in the Philippines and New Guinea from June 8, 1943 until January 20, 1946. He retired from Dana Corporation of Fort Wayne in 1984 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed swimming, woodworking and restoring his 1930 Model A Ford Coupe. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Nowels of Huntington and Dixie Nowels of Pompano Beach, Florida; two sons, Timothy Nowels of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Michael of Edinburgh, Indiana; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Calling is Noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with a brief service at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
