Frances Fifer, 97 of Fort Wayne went to be with Jesus Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Englewood Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on June 20, 1928, in Leslie, Michigan, and she was a daughter of the late Eli and Ruth (Smith) Sell. She married the love of her life Donald on Valentine's Day 1945 and they were together until his death January 2, 2012.
She loved the Lord and was a member of Waynedale Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, doing word searches and watching her favorite T.V. shows like Wheel of Fortune, Big Brother and The Bachelor. She enjoyed being outside, whether it was caring for her flowers or camping with her family, who she loved dearly. Frances worked for many years at Magnavox and Borden Ice Cream, where she was the Union Secretary prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Donna) Fifer and Patricia (Mike) Updike, nine grandchildren, Jon Fifer, David Fifer, Vanessa Donahoe, Ronnie (Laura) Fifer, Andy (Mandy) Fifer, Richard (Amy) Fifer, Barbara (Jackie) Fifer, Natascha Kenemore and Nitalya Duran, 14 great grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Tiffany, Jonathan, Richard, David, Michelle, Oz, Brandon, Landon, Chloe, Sonya, Emily (Noah) and Kaylee and 15 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Dillion and Martha "Marti" Ball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Fifer Sr., two sons, Richard and Loren, grandson Matthew Fifer, siblings, Gladys Huth, Mary Schick, Sylvester "Buddy" Sell, Ralph Sell, Eddie Sell, Irene Cripe and Nolan Sell and grandson in-law Pete Duran.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be two hours prior, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
