Garnet P. Taylor, 100, has left the busyness of this life on March 25, 2016, to be with our Heavenly Father as one of his angels. She was blessed with the love of her ever growing family and will be missed more than words can describe. She was born in Fort Wayne and lived here her entire life. She met the love of her life Ronald Taylor at a Valencia Gardens dance and they were wed in March of 1935. A greater love has never been surpassed. Her life was dedicated to Ron and their children. They were fortunate enough to celebrate nearly sixty years of marriage. They loved to travel and spent much time in Canada, Las Vegas and Florida. While she was the epitome of a great homemaker, but when she made up her mind to accomplish something new there was no stopping her. Beside all of her many aptitudes, she tackled driving lessons at age 55, took knitting lessons, learned to type and played in bridge tournaments.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (Patti) Taylor and Ronald N. (Beverly) Taylor II both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Sondra Loson of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Vonnie (Tom) Falls, Mitch Hicks, Ronda (Jeff) Walters, Tony (Renee) Hicks, Russell (Laura) Farrell all of Fort Wayne; also Christine (Ron) Berry of Monroe, Louisiana and R. Neil (Dorrie) Taylor III of London; 19 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren, all fondly calling her G.G. Also surviving is a longtime sister in law, Rosie Taylor of New Haven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald N. Taylor, in 1994; sisters, Marie Romano, Juanita Fate; and brother, John Menke.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Covington Funeral Home, 8480 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 6-8 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the funeral home. She will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Pastor Dr. Kathleen Haller. Preferred memorials are to Trinity English Church or Riley Children''s Hospital.
