Gary Imel, 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at home in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, Gary was a son to the late Donald and Ruth (Bellanger) Imel. He married Sandra Conover, and she survives. Gary was self-employed in the metal industry for most of his career. He was a member of the White Earth Nation Reservation. Gary enjoyed attending Komet Hockey games, NASCAR and spoiling his grandchildren. Surviving is his wife, Sandra Imel; sons, Chris (Taylor) Imel and Colin (Elizabeth) Imel; stepsons, Paul (Aubree) Velarde and Garrett Troyer; siblings, Rocky (Shari) Imel, Kim (Rich) Schneider, Gina (Cesar) Imel and Jason (Emily) Imel; eight grandchildren; nephews, Shane Imel and John Imel; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat Simba. Gary was also preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Bellanger, Bob Imel, Lee Imel, Jack Imel, and Donald Imel. Celebration of Life service 1:00pm to 8:00pm, Sunday, August 4, 2024, at New Haven Conservation Club, 13031 Old 24 E Road, New Haven, IN 46778. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
