Gary W. Rice, 77, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Majestic Care of West Allen in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Huntington, IN, Gary was a son to the late James Edward Sr. and Iva (Jackson) Rice. He was a graduate of North Side High School and served honorably in the United States Army. Gary was an avid Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, bowling, and billiards. He was also a crossword enthusiast and liked traveling and going to the casino. Surviving are his children, Terry (Angie) Rice, Darrin (Kristine) Rice, Lori (Larry) Rice and Angela (Shannon) Horn; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Holloway, Kayla Rice, William Rice, Cameron Rice, Jasmine Rice, Miles Robinson, Ashley Talarico, and Audrey Horn; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Pamela (Gerald) Fabini; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Rice and Rosie Rice. Gary was also preceded in death by his daughter, Tricia Rice; sister, Sherrie Rice; and brothers, James Rice Jr. and Paul Rice. Funeral service 1:00pm, Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
